Honorary Fellowship of the MIRCE Akademy, HFMA, is the title established by the Akakdemy to recognise individuals who made a significant contribution to the achievement of its purpose.

Dr Robert Hodgson

Dr Hodgson is a civil engineer specialising in geotechnics with a strong subsidiary interest in disaster management. He has extensive experience of both site and design work, having managed civil engineering projects in UK and abroad and disaster relief programmes (both natural and complex disasters) worldwide. Educated locally in Crediton, Robert studied as a civil engineer in Imperial College, London University, and worked for 9 years with consultants Binnie & Partners. He continues to work as a geotechnical specialist for Black & Veatch, which merged with Binnie & Partners in the 1990s. Since completing his Doctoral thesis on the mechanics of a coastal landslide in Exeter in 1994, Robert has been the Coordinator of University of Exeter's Housing & Hazards programme in Bangladesh. He has served as External Examiner to Coventry University's Disaster Management programmes (2004-8), conferences
